We don’t have a shortage of fathers in our culture. What we have is a serious lack of self awareness of what it takes to be one, we severely lack the confidence in our role as black men to know what a huge difference we make in our families and communities. We have to come from a place of healing and understanding to let go of the past and build a better future. If Juneteenth means Progress, then fathers day means Accountability.Β  The family is the foundation of every successful culture and society. Take accountability and not just for the sake of a relationship but for the sake of a generation and the hope of what can be if black fathers can be celebrated and rightfully put back in a place of dignity and responsibility.
